Marinette County approves funds to support City of Marinette Airboat after reconsideration

Past month the Marinette County Board of supervisors permitted contributing $43,900 to the City of Marinette in direction of the obtain of a new 24 ft search and rescue airboat with the caveat that the county be in a position to use the airboat. Nonetheless, at yesterday’s County Board conference a movement was introduced forth by Supervisor Allen to rethink action taken by the County board to transfer the $43,900 to the City of Marinette for buy of the Airboat. Since the Metropolis of Marinette has not too long ago allotted $500 for each worker for COVID-19 vaccinations utilizing ARPA cash when they could have applied their ARPA cash towards the funding of the airboat in its place of inquiring the County for funding. County Administrator John Lefebvre says, “the Town of Marinette acquired $1.1 million in ARPA funding.”

Supervisor Ken Keller states, “there is a cause why the city is looking for participation in the acquiring of the airboat.”

After a prolonged discussion, the board voted, and it came in at 14 in favor of the airboat to 13 not in favor.  The predicted supply date of the airboat is mid-January.
