COLUMBUS — Legal Aid announces a Free Legal Aid Walk In Clinic on Wednesday, July 20, 2022 at the Stephenson Rife Law Office in Shelbyville.
The clinic will be held from 3-5p.m. The free clinic is for low-income residents.
The Legal Aid Clinic and Pro Bono Program utilizes local volunteer attorneys, offering free legal consultations to low-income individuals for the provision of legal advice and assistance in furtherance of equal access to justice within our community whom might not otherwise be able to afford the counsel of an attorney.
Individuals coming to the Legal Aid Clinic can expect to receive a 10-minute consultation to answer general and eviction questions, offer legal information, or to receive other limited pro se assistance or advice, in person, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no need to register in advance.
The Stephenson Rife Law Office is located 2150 Intelliplex Drive #200.
From 3-4 p.m. they’ll hold the General Advice Clinic, where attendees can get free legal advice on civil legal matters, including:
family law (child support modification, custody, divorce, parenting time)
landlord/tenant (evictions, habitability issues)
No questions about criminal law will be answered.
From 4-5 p.m. they’ll hold an Eviction Clinic, where attendees can get free legal advice regarding an eviction, including:
The residential eviction process
Negotiating with your landlord
Legal defenses to an eviction
Damages hearings & money judgments
