New Minimum Wages Order effective 1 May 2022; employers with less than 5 employees exempted

The commonly-expected Minimal Wages Get 2022 (“the Order”) was gazetted on 27 April 2022. The Get, pursuant to area 23 of the National Wages Consultative Council Act 2011, will increase the minimum amount wage nationwide to RM1,500 from 1 Might 2022. There is a momentary exemption until finally 31 December 2022 from the boost for employers with much less than five employees.

From 1 May 2022, the regular monthly bare minimum wage will be increased to RM1,500 nationwide. The Order also gives minimum wage fees for staff compensated on a everyday or hourly basis, as established out in this table:

Momentary exemption for employers with much less than 5 personnel

There is a short-term exemption until finally 31 December 2022 for employers with much less than five workers. However, this exemption does not implement to businesses who carry out expert routines (as categorised less than the Malaysia Normal Classification of Occupations revealed by the Ministry of Human Resources), irrespective of selection of workforce.

For exempted companies, the present minimum amount wage fees will continue to utilize, and the Purchase gives that from 1 January 2023 the new minimum wage prices will use to all employers.
