Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) gave a telling nonanswer to a problem about his ethical boundaries that circulated widely on social media Thursday.
“You are acknowledged for actively playing a ruthless style of politics. Where by do you attract your moral red traces?” Axios’ Jonathan Swan requested the Kentucky Republican in an interview.
McConnell joked that “my spouse thinks I’m a genuinely great guy” and then said he was “shocked to hear this sort of a remark.”

McConnell stated it should not be surprising that he would help the nominee of his occasion and that he feels an obligation to do so.
Swan then puzzled if there was nearly anything a Republican nominee could do to shed McConnell’s guidance.
The senator prevented answering, responding only: “I say many issues I’m sure several people really don’t realize.”
The exchange drew sharp rebukes from commentators on the web, several of whom interpreted McConnell’s response as an indicator of his fealty to his get together in excess of the country.
