Whose Priorities Are These, Anyway?

Have you ever wondered, why we, even, bother, electing public officials, since they seem, to get, so little accomplished, and, what they do, rarely serves the common good, or what, many believe, should be their priorities?Why is so little of the political discussion, focused on, relevant, sustainable needs? Does it ever seem, to you, most politicians, instead of serving the public good, and/ or, seeking a meeting – of – the – minds, care more about their personal/ political agenda, and self – interest? What might be the future ramifications, of what we are witnessing today, including the diminishing of the Constitution’s, Balance of Power, by what many consider, Presidential over – reach, including defiance of investigations/ subpoenas; avoiding necessary infrastructure planning and implementation; partisan politics over best policies; and personal/ political agendas, and self – interest, instead of what might be best for the nation? With that in mind, this article will attempt to briefly, consider, examine, review, and discuss, why, this is not in our best interests, and potential ramifications.

1. Calling off infrastructure talks: When President Trump, and Speaker of the House Pelosi, and Senate Minority Leader Schumer, seemed to agree, as have, nearly everyone else, the United States, is, seriously, in need of, a major infrastructure overhaul. However, either, in defiance, denial, or as a sign of his political will/ personal priorities, this President, abruptly cancelled future discussions. The longer this discussion is avoided, and action is not taken, it becomes more challenging, and expensive, to make it appropriate for present and future needs!

2. Defiance of investigations: Mr. Trump, and his current, Attorney General William Barr, have appeared, to do, everything possible, to keep information secret/ undisclosed, refusing to release documents requested, and/ or, under – subpoena, and using so – called, Executive Privilege, to deny Congressional investigators, access to witnesses. Since the Constitution grants Congress, co – equal power, these actions, threaten our Balance of Powers!

3. Party/ partisan politics: Little seems to get done, when the House of Representatives, under Democratic control, passes over 100 pieces of legislation, and the Senate refuses, to, even, consider, and/ or, vote, on these! There appears to be far more partisan politics, than public service!

4. Personal/ political agenda/ self – interests: Whether, President Trump. actually believes, climate change, is not a true threat, nor there is any need to protect access to clean air and water/ environment safety, or, it is, an attempt to appeal to his political base, etc, the potential ramifications, of delaying progress, in these areas, may threaten future generations!

Lies, distortions, avoidance, and procrastination, are potentially, harmful, to the future of our planet! Wake up, America, and demand, your politicians, prioritize true priorities, instead of the same – old, same – old ways!
